       State of Maryland Sc.t
                   I William A Jarboe Register
       of wills for Prince Georges County in the
       State of Maryland do hereby certify that
       the bearer hereof a mullatto (who calls himself
       Tom Grimes) is a free man of color five
       feet eight inches high with a scar on the
       back of his right hand and round black
       mole near the corner of his right eye he is
       about thirty two or three years old became entitled
       to his freedom by the last will and testament
       of Martha C. Cox late of said County deceased
       bearing date the ninth day of February
       eighteen hundred and twenty two duly proved
       according to law and now upon record remaining
       in my office said Tom having been identified
       by D C Sasseer & N N B Chew to be son
       of Elianor named in said will

                                        In testimony whereof I
                                        hereunto set my hand and
                                        affix the seal of the Orphan's
                                        Court for Prince George's County
                                        this 8.th day of September A. D.
