                    State of Maryland Prince Georges County
       I hereby certify that on this 23.d day of February
       before me the subscriber one of the Justices of
       Peace in and for said County personally appeared
       Thomas B Craycroft and made oath on this
       Holy Evangely of Almighty God that James
       Curtis aged about 23 years with a large scar on
       the left side of his abdomen just above the navel
       caused by a burn is the Son of Ann Curtis a
       free born coloured woman and that he is entitled
       to his free papers witness my hand the
       day and year above written
             Sworn before   Fielder W Greer Justice of the Peace
