       State of Maryland Prince Georges County sc.t

            I hereby certify that the bearer hereof James
       Johnson a black man five feet six inches high
       about thirty years of age rather bow ledged and
       slender made having a good countenance is a
       free man being the reputed son of Lucy Johnson
       a free woman of colour

                Given under my hand and seal of office this
                seventeenth day of May in the year of our
                Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen

            I hereby Certify that the bearer hereof a Black man
       by the name of Thomas Armstrong about twenty
       two years old five feet six inches high having a
       scar on her right cheek and a small scar on

       of a Woman by the name of Jenny who was
       Manumitted by Samuel Snowden late of the
       county aforesaid deceased as appears by the
       deed recorded in my office
