58 Seven and an half inches high having a large scar on the left hand and another on the thumb the former occasioned by the cut of an ax and the latter by a saw is a freeman and became entitled to his freedom in Virtue of a Deed of Manumission from Charles Eversfield dated the Twenty Ninth day of December Eighteen Hundred and thirteen duly exhibited and recorded in liber J R M N.o 16 pages 87 & 88 one of the land records of Prince Georges County Given under my hand and seal of office this ninth day of July in the year Eighteen Hundred and fourteen John R. Magruder Clk P G Cy C.t Maryland Prince Georges County to wit I hereby certify that the bearer hereof James Daffin a bright mulatto man about five feet one and a half inches high and now in his forty third year was raised in the family of M.r Joseph Daffin of Dorchester County on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and purchased of him by Osborn Sprigg of Prince Georges County in the year Seventeen Hundred and Ninety is a freeman being the identical person mentioned in a Deed of Manumission from said Osborn Sprigg dated the fifth day of October Eighteen hundred and fourteen In testimony thereof I do hereto subscribe my name and office the seal of the county court aforesaid this seventeenth day of October Eighteen hundred and fourteen John R.
