       feet high dark complexion who was raised
       in Prince Georges County in the family of Basil
       Waring Deceased is a freeman and obtained his
       freedom by virtue of a Deed of Manumission
       from Spencer Mitchell bearing date the first
       day of June in the year Eighteen Hundred &
       Eleven duly acknowledged and recorded
       one of the Land records of the county aforesaid

                Given under my hand and seal of office
                this 2.d day of April in the year 1812

       State of Maryland Prince Georges County to wit

                I hereby certify that the bearer hereof Negro
       Sam about twenty five years of age five feet
       six inches high dark complexion with a small scar
       just below his right eye and who was raised in
       Prince Georges County in the family of Basil
       Waring Deceased is a freeman and obtained his
       freedom in virtue of a Deed of Manumission
       bearing date the first day of June Eighteen
       Hundred and Eleven from Sarah Waring
       duly acknowledged and recorded in one of
       the land records of the county aforesaid
