          I hereby Certify that the bearer hereof Simon
       who calls himself Simon Greenleaf a black
       man about twenty two years of age five
       feet eight inches high having a scar on his
       right hand between his fore finger & thumb
       occasioned by a cut that the said Simon
       Greenleaf is a free man and became entitled
       to his freedom in virtue of a Deed of manumission
       from D.r Colmore Beanes ^& Jn.o R Magruder Ser Exe.r of the last will & testament of D.r W.m Beanes de.d^ duly acknowledged
