                         I hereby certify the bearer hereof negro
       William who calls himself William Hickman
       a Mulatto man aged about Forty two years Six
       feet high having lost the joint of the four finger
       of his right hand  that the said William Hickman
       is a free man and became entitled to his freedom
       in virtue of a Deed of Manumission from Gerrard
       T Greenfield to said negro William and duly recorded
       in one of the Land Records of ^Prince Georges County^ Washington City &c
