             I hereby certify that the bearer hereof
       Negro Cate who calls herself Cate
       Nicholls a black woman about 52
       years old about 5.2 Inches high having
       the middle finger of the left hand & the 4.th
       finger of the right hand deformed occasioned
       by a cut & having lost the fourth toe of
       her right foot is a free woman & became
       entitled to her freedom by Virtue of a Deed
       of Manumission from Arch.d Elson dated
       the 3.rd Jan.y 1795 & recorded among the
       Land records of Said County

                      Certificate granted 5 Aug.t 1825
       Identified by the affidavit
