       and recorded in my office the 5.th day of
       April 1821

                   I hereby Certify that negro Gassy who calls
       herself Gasty Thomas the bearer hereof a black man
       about twenty two years of age five feet four Inches
       high has two small scars on the upper part of the
       Elbow of the right arm that the said negro Gassy
       is a free man as appears by a Deed of Manumission
       from Hezekiah Wheeler duly acknowledged and
       recorded in my office the 25.th day of July 1800

       herself mary Ann Brown the bearer hereof a light mulatto
       Girl about sixteen years of age five feet one Inch high has
       several large dark spots on the back of the neck and between
       the Shoulders & a small scar near the second joint of the
       forefinger of the left hand that the said Mary Ann is a free
       girl being the Daughter of Jemima Brown who was manumitted
       by a Deed from Hezekiah Wheeler duly acknowledged and
