5-505. INVENTORY LISTS.

THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PREPARE AND PERIODICALLY REVISE
INVENTORY LISTS OF:

(1)  THE NATURAL RESOURCES OF THE STATE; AND

(2)  MAJOR PUBLIC WORKS AND PRIVATE FACILITIES THAT
ARE IMPORTANT TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE STATE AS A WHOLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 88C, §
2(a) and (h).

In item (2) of this section, the words "which are
deemed", which formerly modified the reference to
importance, are deleted as unnecessary since the
former law failed to state who had the power or duty
to deem something important.

5-506. STUDIES RELATING TO STATE PLANNING.

(A)  REQUIRED.

TO THE EXTENT RELEVANT TO STATE PLANNING, THE DEPARTMENT
SHALL STUDY:

(1)  THE RESOURCES OF THE STATE;

(2)  EXISTING AND EMERGING PROBLEMS OF AGRICULTURE,
COMMERCE, HOUSING, INDUSTRY, LOCAL GOVERNMENT, POPULATION, PUBLIC
SERVICE, AND TRANSPORTATION; AND

(3)  RELATED MATTERS AFFECTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE
STATE.

(B)  COOPERATION WITH OTHER AGENCIES AND ENTITIES.

IN MAKING THE STUDIES, THE DEPARTMENT SHALL SEEK THE
COOPERATION OF:

(1)  APPROPRIATE GOVERNMENTAL UNITS;

(2)  REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSIONS;

(3)  PUBLIC OR PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS;

(4)  PUBLIC OR PRIVATE RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS;

(5)  CIVIC GROUPS; AND
