REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived

without substantive change from former Art. 88C, §

2(a) and (e) and the first clause of the second
sentence of § 1.

In subsection (b) of this section, the former word
"investigations" is deleted as unnecessary in light of
the broad reference to "studies".

5-302. ADVISORY, CONSULTATIVE, AND COORDINATING FUNCTIONS.

THE DEPARTMENT SHALL FUNCTION IN PART AS AN ADVISORY,
CONSULTATIVE, AND COORDINATING AGENCY.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as the first
clause of the third sentence of Art. 88C, § 1.

The words "in part" are added to clarify that the
Department has duties not included in this section.

The former reference to the Department executing its
purposes is deleted as surplusage.

The only other changes are in style.

5-303. DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM.

TO PROMOTE THE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND GENERAL WELFARE OF THE
CITIZENS OF THE STATE, THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PREPARE, RECOMMEND,
AND PERIODICALLY REVISE A BALANCED, INTEGRATED PROGRAM FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT AND EFFECTIVE USE OF THE NATURAL AND OTHER RESOURCES
OF THE STATE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the second clause of
the second sentence of former Art. 88C, § 1.

The words "periodically revise" are substituted    for

the former phrase "keep up to date", for clarity  and

to conform with similar provisions elsewhere in    the
Code.

5-304. AUTHORITY TO OBTAIN FUNDS AND SERVICES.

THE DEPARTMENT MAY ACCEPT FUNDS, GRANTS, AND SERVICES FROM
PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SOURCES TO CARRY OUT ITS POWERS AND DUTIES.
