ANY OTHER OFFICIAL OF THE DEPARTMENT, TO SUPERVISE THE OTHER
ASSISTANT ATTORNEYS GENERAL ASSIGNED TO THE DEPARTMENT, AND TO
PERFORM FOR THE DEPARTMENT THE DUTIES THAT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
ASSIGNS. THE COUNSEL SHALL PERFORM THESE DUTIES SUBJECT TO THE
CONTROL AND SUPERVISION OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first through
fifth sentences and -- as it related to the Counsel to
the Department -- the sixth sentence of former Art.
41, § 226(d).
The seventh sentence and, except as it related to the
Counsel, the sixth sentence of former Art. 41, §
226(d), which enabled the Attorney General to assign
work to assistant attorneys general, required them to
do the assigned work, required them to be lawyers, and
provided for their salaries, are deleted as
unnecessary in light of SG § 6-105.

GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE:
Former Art. 41, § 228, which abolished the State Planning
Department and the office of Director of State Planning and
transferred all related authority and property to the Department
of State Planning and the Secretary of State Planning, is deleted
as obsolete, since the transfer and other events contemplated
already have occurred. See also Title 10, Subtitle 7 of the
State Government Article, which provides that the property and
obligations of an abolished unit vest in the successor unit and
that the rules, regulations, orders, hearings, and proceedings of
an abolished unit remain in effect until amended or rescinded by
the successor unit.
SUBTITLE 3. GENERAL AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
OF DEPARTMENT.
5-301. RESPONSIBILITIES TO GOVERNOR.
(A) STAFF AGENCY.
THE DEPARTMENT IS THE STAFF AGENCY OF THE GOVERNOR FOR
PLANNING MATTERS.
(B) PRINCIPAL STAFF AGENCY FOR RESOURCE AND DEVELOPMENT
PLANNING.
THE DEPARTMENT IS . THE PRINCIPAL STAFF AGENCY FOR PLANNING
MATTERS CONCERNING THE RESOURCES AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE STATE.
IN THIS CAPACITY, THE DEPARTMENT SHALL UNDERTAKE SPECIAL STUDIES,
SUBMIT REPORTS, AND GIVE ADVICE TO THE GOVERNOR AT THE REQUEST OF
THE GOVERNOR.
