4-501. DEFINITIONS.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language used as the
standard introductory language to a definition
section.

(B)  EXCESS PERSONAL PROPERTY.

"EXCESS PERSONAL PROPERTY" MEANS AN ITEM OF PERSONAL
PROPERTY THAT IS DECLARED TO BE IN EXCESS OF THE NEEDS OF THE
CUSTODIAL UNIT 'OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT BECAUSE THE ITEM:

(1)  IS NOT NECESSARY TO THE EFFICIENT OPERATION OF
THE UNIT; OR

(2)  HAS BEEN REPLACED BY A SIMILAR ITEM.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, §
232(a).

The phrase "unit of the State government" is
substituted for the former word "agency" to conform to
similar provisions elsewhere in this title.

(C)  NONEXPENDABLE ITEM.

"NONEXPENDABLE ITEM" MEANS AN ITEM OF EQUIPMENT OR
FURNISHING THAT HAS:

(1)  AN ANTICIPATED USEFUL LIFE OF MORE THAN 1 YEAR;
AND

(2)  AN ORIGINAL COST EXCEEDING A MINIMUM DOLLAR
AMOUNT ESTABLISHED BY THE DEPARTMENT BY REGULATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly appeared as Art.
41, § 232(b).

The words "item of equipment or furnishing" are
substituted for the former words "equipment item or
furnishing", for clarity.

The only other changes are in style.

(D)  SURPLUS PERSONAL PROPERTY.
