(II) ANY PROMISE, OBLIGATION, OR CONTRACT FOR
FUTURE REWARD OR COMPENSATION.

(B) PENALTY.

IF THE SECRETARY OR ANY EMPLOYEE OF THE DEPARTMENT VIOLATES
ANY PROVISION OF THIS SECTION, THE SECRETARY OR EMPLOYEE IS
GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND ON CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO A FINE
NOT LESS THAN $1,000 OR IMPRISONMENT NOT EXCEEDING 6 MONTHS OR
BOTH.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, §
231H(a).

The General Assembly may wish to consider whether this
section is necessary in light of the later enacted
Maryland Public Ethics Law.

4-305. PRINTING.

ANY CONTRACT FOR PRINTING FOR THE STATE SHALL BE MADE
THROUGH OR WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE SECRETARY EXCEPT FOR:

(1)  A CONTRACT FOR PRINTING FOR THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
AND ITS STAFF AGENCIES;

(2)  A CONTRACT FOR PRINTING A RECORD OR BRIEF FOR THE
OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL; AND

(3)  A CONTRACT FOR PRINTING OF THE MARYLAND REPORTS
OR THE MARYLAND APPELLATE REPORTS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, §
231H(b).

In the introductory language of this section, the
former reference to "any using authority" is deleted
as unnecessary in light of the reference to the State.

In item (2) of this section, "Office of the Attorney

General" is substituted for the former language "State

Law Department", in light of Title 6 of the State
Government Article.

In item (3) of this section, the reference to the

Maryland Appellate Reports is new language added in

light of CJ § 13-204. This revision is called to the
attention of the General Assembly.
