The Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1610.

This bill repeals the requirement that the Maryland
Transportation Authority construct, operate and maintain a bridge
across the Choptank River near Cambridge as a toll facility
project. It also requires the new State Highway Administration
bridge in this vicinity to be named the Senator Frederick C.
Malkus, Jr. Bridge.
