Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 361.

This bill alters the salary of the Sheriff of Anne Arundel
County and provides that this Act does not extend or apply to the
salary or compensation of the incumbent Sheriff of Anne Arundel
County.

House Bill 769, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on April 9, 1985, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 361.

AN ACT concerning

Anne Arundel County - Sheriff's Salary

FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the Sheriff of Anne
Arundel County; providing that this Act does not extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the incumbent Sheriff
of Anne Arundel County; and generally relating to the salary
of the Sheriff of Anne Arundel County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

(c) (1) The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall receive a
salary of [$29,500] $35,000 $37,500.
