(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings
indicated.
(b) "Occupant needing evacuation assistance" means any
person who, because of age, blindness, disability, or physical or
mental illness, is unable to evacuate a building in case of fire
without assistance.
(c) "Automatic fire extinguishing system" means a system
designed to automatically detect and extinguish a fire while
sounding an alarm, and installed in accordance with accepted
engineering practices as approved by the [authority having
jurisdiction] STATE FIRE PREVENTION COMMISSION.
54.
(C) (1) IF AN ORDER FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF
THIS SECTION IS ISSUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AUTHORITY GRANTED
UNDER THIS ARTICLE, ANY APPEAL OF THAT ORDER SHALL BE MADE TO THE
STATE FIRE PREVENTION COMMISSION.
(2) IF AN ORDER FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS
OF THIS SECTION IS ISSUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AUTHORITY
GRANTED BY A LOCAL LAW, ORDINANCE, OR REGULATION, ANY APPEAL OF
THAT ORDER SHALL BE MADE AS PROVIDED BY LAW, ORDINANCE, OR
REGULATION OF THE LOCAL JURISDICTION.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

AN ACT concerning
Fire-Rescue Education and Training Commission - Composition
FOR the purpose of altering the membership of the Maryland
Fire-Rescue Education and Training Commission; and altering
the number of members of the Commission that constitutes a
quorum; and providing that the additional members of the
Commission appointed pursuant to this Act may not be from
jurisdictions represented on the Commission as of June 30,
1985.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
