AN ACT concerning

Automatic Sprinkler Systems - Regulation

FOR the purpose of requiring that sprinkler systems shall be
installed in certain buildings in accordance with certain
practices an appeal of an order for compliance with the
requirements of a certain law relating to sprinkler systems
in high rise buildings that is issued under the authority of
State law be made to the State Fire Prevention Commission;
and requiring that an appeal of any order for compliance
with the requirements of a certain law relating to sprinkler
systems in high rise buildings that is issued under the
authority of local law be made as provided by the local law.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 38A - Fires and Investigations

50.

(A)  Every high-rise building as provided in § 51 shall be
protected by a complete automatic sprinkler system installed in
accordance with accepted engineering practices as approved by the
[authority having jurisdiction] STATE FIRE PREVENTION

COMMISSION.

(B) IF AN ORDER FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF
THIS SECTION IS ISSUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AUTHORITY GRANTED
UNDER THIS ARTICLE, ANY APPEAL OF THAT ORDER SHALL BE MADE TO THE
STATE FIRE PREVENTION COMMISSION.

(C) IF AN ORDER FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF
THIS SECTION IS ISSUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AUTHORITY GRANTED.
