quail [, between August 1 and March 1, following,] AT ANY TIME OF
YEAR if an attendant accompanies it. An attendant of the dog may
not carry firearms of any description, except a handgun, or
permit the dog, while being trained, to kill any game birds or
mammals except during the open season for the game. Each
attendant shall possess a valid hunting license while training
any dog.
(b) [Between March 1 and July 31, a] A person may not
WILLFULLY allow any dog belonging to him to [run at large on any
property, other than that owned or tenanted by him, and pursue
game birds or mammals or] destroy the eggs or nest of any game
bird or mammal. Any person harboring a dog shall be deemed its
lawful owner.
[10-701.
(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings
indicated.
(b) "Special dog training area" means an area of at least
100 acres and not exceeding 250 acres where dogs may be trained
at any time of the year.]
[10-704.
(a) Any person owning any raccoon, opossum, bird, or rabbit
dog, who desires to train the dog during any closed hunting
season first shall secure a permit to train the dog.
(b) Upon application of any club or association having at
least 20 members who are residents of the State or upon the
application of at least 20 persons, the Department may issue a
permit authorizing the holder to establish and maintain a special
dog training area on land owned or legally controlled by the
holder. The Department may not issue permits for more than eight
special dog training areas in any one county.
(c) The Department may issue the permit upon payment of a
$10 fee.
(d) The permit shall expire on June 30 after date of
issuance.]
[10-705.
The holder of a special dog training area permit shall
plainly and conspicuously post the boundary line of any special
dog training area prior to September 1 with legible notices at
least 10 inches by 12 inches in size placed not more than 100
yards apart which shall bear the following warning:

HUNTING IS UNLAWFUL
