2578                                          LAWS OF MARYLAND                                     Ch. 500

(13)  ACCEPT ANY GIFT, LEGACY, BEQUEST, AND ENDOWMENT
FOR ANY PURPOSE OF THE TRUST AND UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED BY
THE DONOR EXPEND BOTH PRINCIPAL AND INCOME OF ANY GIFT, BEQUEST,
LEGACY, OR ENDOWMENT IN FURTHERANCE OF THE TRUST OR INVEST IT,
WITH CONSENT OF THE STATE TREASURER, IN WHOLE OR IN PART IN
GENERAL OBLIGATIONS OF THE STATE, OR OTHER SECURITIES;

(14)  APPLY ANY MONEY, ASSET, PROPERTY, OR OTHER THING
OF VALUE IT MAY RECEIVE AS INCIDENT TO ITS OPERATION, TO THE
GENERAL PURPOSES OF THE TRUST; AND

(15)  DELEGATE ANY OF ITS POWERS TO 1 OR MORE OF THE
TRUSTEES OR THE DIRECTOR.

(B) IN ADDITION TO THE DUTIES SET FORTH ELSEWHERE IN THIS
SUBTITLE, THE TRUST SHALL:

(1)  IN COOPERATION WITH FEDERAL AND STATE AGENCIES,
INCLUDING THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS,
AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS, DIRECT AND CONDUCT A
COMPREHENSIVE STATEWIDE SURVEY OF HISTORIC PROPERTIES;

(2)  MAINTAIN AN INVENTORY AND REGISTER OF HISTORIC
PROPERTIES;

(3)  DOCUMENT, RESEARCH, RECORD, AND EVALUATE THE
SIGNIFICANCE OF HISTORIC PROPERTIES;

(4)  PREPARE AND IMPLEMENT COMPREHENSIVE STATEWIDE AND
REGIONAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLANS;

(5)  ASSIST, LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF
LOCAL HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLANS AND PROGRAMS;

(6)  CARRY OUT PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES TO PROTECT,
PRESERVE, AND ENCOURAGE THE PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC PROPERTIES
IN THIS STATE;

(7)  PRESERVE AND ADMINISTER HISTORIC PROPERTIES
ACQUIRED AND HELD BY THE TRUST;

(8)  COOPERATE WITH FEDERAL AND STATE AGENCIES, LOCAL
GOVERNMENTS, AND PRIVATE ENTITIES TO ENSURE THAT HISTORIC
PROPERTIES ARE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION AT ALL LEVELS OF PLANNING
AND DEVELOPMENT;

(9)  REVIEW THE POLICIES AND PROGRAMS OF EACH UNIT OF
THE STATE GOVERNMENT THAT AFFECT HISTORIC PROPERTIES AND
RECOMMEND METHODS TO IMPROVE THE EFFECTIVENESS AND COORDINATION
OF THESE POLICIES AND PROGRAMS CONSISTENT WITH THIS SUBTITLE;

(10)  ADMINISTER PROGRAMS OF FINANCIAL AND TECHNICAL
ASSISTANCE FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROJECTS;
