Such employees, to be eligible, must work on a full-time shift,
starting between 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. The Secretary shall
establish rules and regulations for the payment of such shift
differential, to provide fairness and equity among all employees
in consideration of the hours worked, conditions and place of
employment, prevailing practices in the locality, and other
factors deemed by the Secretary to be relevant under the
circumstances.

(2)  IN THIS SUBSECTION:

(I)  "Designated employees" [under this
subsection] includes State employed fire fighters.

(II)  "SHIFT" MEANS AN 8-HOUR PERIOD.

(3)  Notwithstanding the provisions of this
subsection, State employed fire fighters are entitled to shift
differential pay for qualifying hours worked without regard to
the starting time of their shift.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

FOR the purpose of specifying the salaries for the members and
chairman of the Talbot County Board of Education.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
