LAWS OF MARYLAND
Ch. 474
to do any electrical work within this State or any political
subdivision of this State unless they carry general liability
insurance in the amount of [$100,000] $300,000 and property
damage insurance in the amount of [$300,000] $100,000. Proof of
insurance shall be shown prior to the issuance or the renewal of
a license. Proof of general liability and property damage
insurance obtained in compliance with this subsection relieves
the State license holder from furnishing a separate surety bond
in any other political subdivision which requires one under local
electrical licensing requirements. Notice of cancellation of
general liability insurance or property damage insurance shall be
forwarded to the Board within 10 days of the cancellation date.
Inactive license holders are exempt from this requirement.
(e) Any change of name, address, or employment by a
licensee from that which appears on the current license must be
reported to the Board, in writing, within 10 days of the change.
(f) Local licenses shall be issued by a subdivision to [a]
AN electrician holding an active license under this subtitle
without examination.
(1) When a master electrician desires to engage in
electrical contracting in any area or political subdivision of
this State, the licensee shall only exhibit to the local building
official, permit office, or other authorized person in charge of
the issuance of licenses or electrical permits in the area,
evidence of a current statewide master electrical license or of a
qualified agent.
(2) The local jurisdiction shall promptly issue the
statewide licensee a local license to engage in electrical
contracting on payment of any licensing fee as prescribed by the
local jurisdiction.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
be construed only prospectively and may not be applied or
interpreted to have any effect upon or application to any master
electrical license that is in effect before July 1, 1985. This
Act applies only to new or renewal licenses issued on or after
that date.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.
