AN ACT concerning
Hospitals - Physician Admission Privileges
FOR the purpose of prohibiting a hospital from denying certain
admission and treatment privileges to certain physicians
subject to certain limitations; and generally relating to
admission and treatment policies by a hospital in the State.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

19-308.2.
SUBJECT TO AVAILABLE HOSPITAL BED CAPACITY, A HOSPITAL MAY
NOT DENY A LICENSED PHYSICIAN THE PRIVILEGE OF ADMITTING AND
TREATING PATIENTS IN THAT HOSPITAL.
FOR the purpose of requesting certain medical associations to
report on certain admission and treatment privileges for
certain physicians subject to certain limitations.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the General Assembly shall request the medical and
chirurgical faculty of the State of Maryland and the Maryland
Hospital Association to report to the General Assembly and the
Governor by October 1, 1985 with a plan that specifies how
hospital privileges are to be granted to determined concerning
any physician who loses hospital privileges or staff positions as
a result of a hospital merger, consolidation, or closure.
