(b) The treasurer shall receive no other fees or
compensation whatsoever from any other source for the performance
of his duties ' as treasurer other than for sale of license tags
for motor vehicles; provided, however, that he shall receive an
allowance for clerical expenses in the amount of $800.00 per
year. The said treasurer shall have the authority to appoint a
deputy treasurer, who shall be authorized to act in his place.

(j) (1) The salary for the Sheriff of Charles County is:
(i) [$32,000] $36,000 per year for the calendar
year [1983] 1987;
(ii) [$33,000] $37,000 per year for the
calendar year [1984] 1988;
(iii) [$34,000] $38,000 per year for the
calendar year [1985] 1989; and
(iv) [$35,000] $39,000 per year for the
calendar year [1986] 1990.

(j) Each of the judges of the court for Charles County
shall receive as annual compensation [$2,000] $3,000 $4,000.
Each judge shall also' be allowed [$400] $500 annually for
traveling expenses, payable quarterly.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, § 35, of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may
not be construed to extend or apply to the salary or compensation
of the Charles County Commissioners, Chairman of County
Commissioners, Sheriff, Treasurer, and Orphans' Court Judges in
office on the effective date of this Act, but the provisions of
this Act concerning the salary or compensation of the Charles
County Commissioners, Chairman of County Commissioners, Sheriff,
Treasurer, and Orphans' Court Judges shall take effect at the
beginning of the next following term of office.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.
