appointed shall perform such duties as may be designated by the
court, including the duties as stenographer and typist, and also
to make full stenographic notes of all testimony in equity
causes, including those causes heard before any of the standing
examiners of the court, and to transcribe and typewrite such
evidence to be filed in the cause, unless the court shall by its
order direct or permit such testimony to be taken down and
transcribed by a special or private stenographer. Such testimony
so taken shall be paid for by the party ordering the same. It
shall be the duty of the court stenographer and assistant court
stenographer to furnish in any case, either at law or equity,
upon request of any party to any proceeding, copies of the
evidence taken, upon payment by the party or parties ordering the
same at the usual rates for the same, such rates to be fixed by
the order of the court. In addition to the duties as
stenographer and typist, the assistant court stenographer and
typist shall perform the duties of an assistant bar librarian,
the duties to be such as shall be prescribed by the court. The
county council is authorized and directed to levy such sum or
sums as they shall fix as the salaries of the court stenographer
and the assistant court stenographer so appointed by the court.]

The crier of the circuit court shall be entitled to and
shall receive a salary in the amount set by the county council,
in equal monthly installments, which shall be in full and in lieu
of the allowance and fees now authorized by law; provided, that
he shall receive his usual fees as now allowed by law; in cases
removed from other counties or the City of Baltimore to the
circuit court for the county, and the county council shall at
their annual meeting for making the county levy, to levy for the
use of the crier of the circuit court on the assessable property
of the county such sum's of money as they shall deem sufficient to
pay the salary of the crier of the circuit court, upon
presentation to the county controller of the certificate of the
clerk of the circuit court, certifying the attendance of the
crier as hereinafter required.]

It shall be the duty of the crier of the circuit court at
all times to keep and have charge of the courtroom, judge's room
and petit jury room of the circuit court, and to clean, air and
ventilate the same, to attend the sessions of the circuit court,
to have charge and keep open the court library for the use and
benefit of persons having business with the circuit court,
allowing no books to be taken out of the courtroom, unless the
party desiring to remove the same first receipt for them in a
book to be kept by the crier, and allow no books to be taken from
the library, except by the judges of the circuit court, for a
longer period than ten days, and for the faithful discharge of
his duties, he shall give bond to the state in the penal sum of
five hundred dollars, to be filed with and approved by the clerk
of the circuit court.]
