practicing, but who fails the examination for registration, may
continue to perform the duties while awaiting reexamination.

(c)  Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (b) of
this section, the Secretary may, by July 1, 1985, waive the
registration requirements of this title for an individual
employed by the Office of Environmental Programs within the
Department:

(1)  While that individual is performing the duties of
that employment; and

(2)  Who the Secretary determines has appropriate
experience in the individual's respective job classification.

(d)  For nonregistered individuals currently practicing as
environmental sanitarians, registration with the Board shall be
required by July 1, 1985.

(e)  A nonregistered individual currently practicing as an
environmental sanitarian may be registered with the Board if the
individual:

(1) Graduates from an accredited college or
university with:

(i) A baccalaureate degree in environmental
science or environmental health and 12 months of experience,
acceptable to the Board, in the field of environmental health; or

(ii) A baccalaureate degree in the natural
sciences including:

1.  A minimum of 60 semester credit hours
or the equivalent quarter credit hours of basic sciences
acceptable to the Board;

2.  A course in mathematics and at least 1
laboratory course in 3 of the following fields: chemistry,
physics, microbiology, and biology; and

3.  24 months of experience, acceptable to
the Board, in the field of environmental health; or

(iii) A baccalaureate degree that includes:

1.  30 semester credit hours or the
equivalent in quarter units in the natural sciences that meet the
education standards set by the Board;

2.  A course in mathematics and at least 1
laboratory course in 3 of the following fields: chemistry,
physics, microbiology, and biology; and

3.  24 months of experience, acceptable to
the Board, in the field of environmental health; or
