Ch. 154

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 38A - Fires and Investigations

51A.

Every high-rise building on which construction begins after
July 1, 1983, shall be protected by a smoke control system: (1)
designed and constructed in accordance with accepted engineering
practices and (2) in compliance with standards developed by and
jointly promulgated as regulations by the Department of Economic
and Community Development and the State Fire Prevention
Commission and to be enforced by the State Fire [Prevention
Commission] MARSHAL, AND IN BALTIMORE CITY, BY THE CHIEF OF THE
FIRE DEPARTMENT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

(Senate Bill 235)

AN ACT concerning

Higher Education - Illegal Use of
Transcripts, Diplomas, and Grade Reports

FOR the purpose of prohibiting forgery, counterfeiting, or
alteration of a transcript, diploma, or grade report of a
postsecondary educational institution; prohibiting certain
uses of a forged, counterfeit, or altered transcript,
diploma, or grade report; and providing a certain penalty
for violation of this Act.
