In the introductory language of subsection (b) of this
section, the phrase "[e]xcept as provided in
subsection (e) of this section" is added to clarify
that the exemption is limited.
In subsection (b)(1)(ii) and (2) of this section, the
references to meeting the "requirements" to qualify
for the exemption are added for clarity.
In subsection (c) of this section, the introductory
phrase "[e]xcept as provided in subsections (d) and
(e) of this section" is added to clarify that the
exemption is limited.
Regarding subsection (c) of this section, former Art.
81, § 9(g)(1)(viii), which generally related to the
surviving spouse exemption, is incorporated in the
more specific provisions of this subsection (c).
In the introductory language of subsection (c)(1) of
this section, the word "receive" is substituted for
the former phrase "apply for and receive or continue
to receive", for clarity and brevity.
In subsection (c)(1)(i) of this section, the former
reference to the exemption "beginning July 1, 1972" is
deleted as obsolete.
In subsection (c)(2) of this section, the former
reference to the exemption "beginning after July 1,
1976" is deleted as obsolete.
In the introductory language of subsection (c)(3) of
this section, the language "equal to the exemption for
the former dwelling house when the dwelling house
owned by the surviving spouse was transferred" is
substituted for the former reference to "the extent of
the amount of the prior assessment allowed as an
exemption", for clarity.
In subsection (d)(1) of this section, the reference to
requiring a disabled veteran or surviving spouse "to
apply for an exemption ... to the supervisor" is
substituted for the former references to "apply", for
clarity and to reflect the administrative practice of
the Department.
In subsection (d)(1)(ii) of this section, the phrase
"on the form provided by the Department" is added for
clarity and to reflect the administrative practice of
the Department.
Also in subsection (d)(1)(ii) of this section, the
reference to a "certification of the disabled
