SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

(Senate Bill 113)

AN ACT concerning

Community Colleges - Disabled Retired Persons -
Waiver of Tuition

FOR the purpose of providing that persons who are retired and
disabled as defined by the Social Security Act, Railroad
Retirement Act, or certain federal retirement or pension
authorities are exempt from payment of tuition at a
community college; and providing that these persons shall be
counted in computing full-time equivalent enrollment if
enrolled in any class that is eligible for State support.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

16-205.

(a)  Any full-time classified employee of a community
college who enrolls, during his nonworking hours, in any class at
the community college that has at least ten regularly enrolled
students:

(1)  Is exempt from payment of tuition; and

(2)  May not be counted in computing full-time
equivalent enrollment at the community college under § 16-403 of
this title.

(b)  (1) Any resident of this State who is 60 years old or
older [or, who is retired and disabled as defined by the Social
