AN ACT concerning

Medical Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland

FOR the purpose of repealing provisions of law relating to the
Medical Mutual Liability Insurance Society of Maryland;
providing that if the Insurance Commissioner finds that

under certain circumstances a substantial number of

physicians cannot obtain medical malpractice insurance, a

new Physicians Mutual Liability Insurance Company of

Maryland shall be created; providing for the establishment,
management, and procedure of the new company; and generally
relating to a mechanism for physicians to obtain liability
insurance in this State.

FOR the purpose of allowing the Medical Mutual Liability
Insurance Society of Maryland and its subsidiaries to issue
liability and property insurance for physicians and other
health care providers; allowing the Society and its
subsidiaries to issue nonassessable policies upon meeting
requirements of the law; allowing for the expansion of the
board of directors of the Society; removing certain
exemptions from the law; removing certain outdated
provisions; and generally relating to the structure and
activities of the Maryland Mutual Liability Insurance
Society.
