the use of the term "charitable". See Lodge No. 817,
Trustees BPOE v. Supervisor of Assessments, 292 Md.
533, 539, (1982) in which the Court of Appeals stated
in reference to former Art. 81, § 9(e) that "[a]s used
in the statute, the terms 'benevolent' and
'charitable' are virtually synonymous and neither
encompasses a brand of beneficence or largess from
which the public is actively excluded".
In subsection (b)(l)(i) of this section, the phrase
"[e]xcept as provided in subsection (c) of this
section" is added for clarity to provide a reference
to the exception.

In subsection (b)(1)(ii)3. of this section, the former

defined term "corporation".
In subsection (b)(1)(ii)4. of this section, the former

deleted in light of the requirement of subsection
(b)(1)(i) of this section.,
