SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

CHAPTER 50

(House Bill 557)

AN ACT concerning

Washington County - Orphans' Court Judges' Compensation

FOR the purpose of altering the compensation of the judges of the
Orphans' Court of Washington County; and providing that this
Act does not affect incumbents.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Estates and Trusts
Section 2-108(v)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1974 Volume and 1983 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Estates and Trusts

2-108.

(v) As compensation each of the judges of the court for
Washington County shall receive [$35 for every day's attendance
upon the sessions of the court, not to exceed $4,200 in one year]
AN ANNUAL COMPENSATION OF NOT MORE THAN $4,200 PER YEAR AND
EXPENSES AS MAY BE DETERMINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, § 35, of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may
not be construed to extend or apply to the salary or compensation
of the Washington County Orphans' Court Judges in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act
concerning the salary or compensation of the Washington County
Orphans' Court Judges shall take effect at the beginning of the
next following term of office.
