districts of Montgomery County, for their own approval or
rejection; and providing that this Act shall take effect
only in the districts that vote for the proposal; and
providing that certain changes shall be made to the law in
accordance with the way the voters vote in each of the
districts.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages
Section 37(a)(2)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 2B - Alcoholic Beverages
37.
(a) (2) In Montgomery County, a license for the sale of
alcoholic beverages authorized by this article may not be issued
for any place of business located in any one of the following
election districts or towns of the county: Laytonsville (1st
district), [Clarksburg (2nd district), Darnestown (6th district),
and Damascus (12th district),] and the towns of Barnesville,
Kensington, Takoma Park and Washington Grove. In the town of
Barnesville, the Montgomery County board of license commissioners
may issue a special 7 day on-sale beer, wine, and liquor license
to any bona fide religious, fraternal, civic, or charitable
organization.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That before this Act
becomes effective it shall first be submitted to individual
referendums of the legally qualified voters of each of the
following districts: the 2nd, 6th, and 12th of Montgomery
County, which include the towns of Clarksburg, Darnestown, and
Damascus at the general election to be held in November of 1984.
The Board of Supervisors of Elections of Montgomery County shall
do those things necessary and proper to provide for and hold
these referendums here required. There shall be printed on the
respective ballots or ballot labels to be used at this election
for each of the districts the title of this Act and underneath
the title, on separate lines, a square or box to the right of and
opposite the words: "For authorizing the Montgomery County Board
of License Commissioners to issue, renew, and transfer any class
or classes of licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages within
this district" and a corresponding square or box to the right of
and opposite the words "Against authorizing the Montgomery County
Board of License Commissioners to issue, renew, and transfer any
class or classes of licenses for the sale of alcoholic beverages
within this district" so that the voters of each of the
