ACT AS THE SUPERINTENDENT UNTIL THE DISABILITY IS REMOVED. A
deputy superintendent designated in accordance with this section
shall, notwithstanding any other provision of this article,
continue in office at the pleasure of the Superintendent. Upon
termination of such designation by the Superintendent, such
person shall return to the rank held [by him] prior to such
designation. [The deputy superintendent] DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENTS
shall not be paid in accordance with § 23(a) of this article but
shall receive such salary as provided in the budget. Whenever
the Superintendent terminates the designation of a particular
person as deputy superintendent, such person shall thereafter be
paid in accordance with § 23(a) of this article.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

AN ACT concerning
Higher Education - Tuition Assistance
Tuition Assistance - Education of Persons
to Teach in an Area of Critical Shortage
FOR the purpose of authorizing the State Scholarship Board to
make certain awards to certain students; providing that
certain students at college and universities in this State
who obligate themselves to teach in this State are entitled
fee under certain circumstances may receive tuition
assistance; providing that the State Scholarship Board and
the State Board of Education may adopt certain rules and
regulations; requiring that a recipient of tuition
assistance teach in a public school in an area of critical
shortage for a certain time; defining certain terms;
providing for repayment of funds in certain instances; and
generally relating to teacher education tuition assistance
for the education of persons to teach in areas of critical
shortage.

Section 18-1401, 18-1402, 18-1403, 18-1404, and 18-1405 to
be under the new subtitle "Subtitle 14. Teacher
Education Tuition Assistance Tuition Assistance -
Education of Persons to Teach in an Area of Critical
