Preamble
WHEREAS, The Attorney General of Maryland has ruled that the
Washington County Commissioners would not be prohibited from
fixing increases in the salaries of the Supervisors of Elections
for Washington County prior to the commencement of the officials'
terms on June 6, 1983; and
WHEREAS, Such action was taken by the Washington County
Commissioners, thereby making Article 33, Section 2-3(a)(22) of
the Annotated Code of Maryland obsolete; and
WHEREAS, This Act is intended to make that provision of law
consistent with the revised salaries of Washington County
election officials; and
WHEREAS, In addition, it is also the intention of the
General Assembly to increase the salaries of election judges in
Washington County; now, therefore,
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 33 - Election Code
2-3.
(a) Each member of the boards of the several political
subdivisions of the State shall receive an annual salary of not
less than the following amount:
(22) Washington County: [$1,000.]
(I) PRESIDENT, $1,800; AND
(II) MEMBERS, $1,500.

(f) (5) (i) In Washington County, chief judges shall be
paid [$45] $60 per day for each election day, plus a mileage
allowance as determined by the board; judges shall be paid [$35]
$50 per day for each election day.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, § 35, of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may
