Section 18-302(a), 18-303(b), and 18-305(a) 18-307(a)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1978 Volume and 1983 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

18-302.

(a)  The EXCEPT FOR A DISTINGUISHED SCHOLAR AWARD UNDER
§ 18-1101 OF THIS ARTICLE, THE recipient of a general State
scholarship may [not] hold any other scholarship awarded
under this title.

18-303.

(b)  (1) A general State scholarship may be awarded in $100
increments. However, the award for a single year may not be less
than $200 or more than [$1,500] $2,000.

(2) A recipient may not be awarded more than [$6,000]
$8,000 for undergraduate study.

18-305.

(a) Each recipient of a general State scholarship may hold
the scholarship for 4 years if he:

(1) Continues to be a resident of this State;

(2) Continues to be a full-time student at an

eligible institution and takes at least 12 semester hours of
courses each semester;

(3) In the judgment of the institution, is making
satisfactory progress toward a degree; [and]

(4) Maintains the department standards of the

institution[.]; AND

(5) MOVES TO THE NEXT HIGHER GRADE LEVEL EACH YEAR.

18-307.

(a) Each legislative district is entitled to an annual
allocation of not more than:

(1) [$3,000] $6,000 [, or the amount the district
received in fiscal year 1976, whichever is more]; and

(2) [$2,000] $4,000 for each member entitled to be
elected to the House of Delegates from that district.
