Ch. 12

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 56 - Licenses

500.

(c) Two dollars ($2.00) for [students and] apprentices,
annual renewal fee of two dollars ($2.00).

(H) FIVE DOLLARS ($5.00) FOR STUDENTS, VALID FOR 5 YEARS
FROM THE YEAR OF ISSUANCE.

501.

(a) Certificates of registration shall be issued for no
longer than 2 years. All certificates shall expire on the
thirty-first day of October of each odd-numbered year unless
renewed biennially for the next 2 years. However, student
licenses shall [expire on the 31st day of August next succeeding
unless renewed for the next year.] BE ISSUED FOR NO LONGER THAN 5
YEARS AND SHALL EXPIRE ON THE 31ST DAY OF OCTOBER, 5 YEARS FROM
THE YEAR OF ISSUANCE UNLESS RENEWED FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

CHAPTER 13

(Senate Bill 226)

AN ACT concerning

Washington County - Sheriff's Office

FOR the purpose of providing for tenure for certain employees of
the Washington County Sheriff's Department; and altering the
law relating to tenure for a deputy sheriff of Washington
County by providing that, at the conclusion of 12 months
consecutive employment, a deputy sheriff having the rank of
lieutenant or below has tenure.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

Section 2-309(w)(l) and (2)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1980 Replacement Volume and 1983 Supplement)
