and the Town of Brentwood; and

WHEREAS, the Town's Charter's Section 805.0, CONTRACTS,
would have its second paragraph deleted in its entirety; and

WHEREAS, this amendment would eliminate the requirement that
the council shall employ a competent engineer to carry out the
objectives of that section; and

WHEREAS, Section 805.0, CONTRACTS, would be changed by
adding a new second paragraph which would read as follows:

"All contractors shall give bond in the amount the Council
requires to insure the faithful performance of their contracts.
The Council ((shall employ)) may employ a competent engineer at
such compensation as they determine to carry out the objectives
of this article."

WHEREAS, copies of the proposed Charter Amendment and the
existing Charter have been made available to the citizens of the
Town of Brentwood, and announcements have been made in newspapers
and at Town Council meetings concerning the proposed changes and
the public hearing held January 16, 1984, in Brentwood, Maryland;
and

WHEREAS, there was no public objection to the adoption of
the proposed Charter Amendment.

A RESOLUTION TO PROPOSE AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE III OF THE
CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF BRUNSWICK, ENTITLED "MAYOR" BY REPEALING
SECTION 16-26 (SALARY) AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION
16-26 (SALARY).

County, as found in the compilation of Municipal Charters of
Maryland (1983 Edition), repealed and reenacted, with amendments.
