(1)   Encourage the advancement of high
technology skills among Maryland citizens
by

(i) Assisting in the development of
pre-eminent undergraduate and
graduate science and engineering
academic programs in Maryland;

(ii) Supporting the development of
practical and efficient employment
retraining programs; and

(iii) Stimulating the enhancement of
technical education in public
schools;

(2)   Serve as a catalyst for the formation of
financial support for programs designed to
enhance the high technology base of
Maryland; and

(3)   Help establish teams of public and private
sector representatives to achieve specific
high technology objectives.

(b) Beginning on December 1, 1983, the Roundtable
shall submit a report to the Governor every 6
months. The report shall contain a summary of
the significant activities of the Roundtable
during the reporting period and recommendations
for executive or legislative action to further
the purpose for which the Roundtable was
created.

WHEREAS, By Executive Order No. 01.01.1972.02 issued February 7,
1972, the Regional Planning Council was assigned to the
Department of State Planning; and

WHEREAS, The Secretary of the Department of State Planning has
recommended that the Regional Planning Council be removed
