EXECUTIVE ORDERS
MAXIMIZE THE USE OF THE AVAILABLE FEDERAL FUNDS
FROM SECTION 16(B)(2) AND COORDINATE SUCH
FUNDING WITH OTHER STATE AND FEDERAL FUNDS USED
FOR HANDICAPPED AND ELDERLY TRANSPORTATION
SERVICES.
FURTHERMORE, [In] in its development of the
plan, it shall identify existing private
nonprofit corporations and associations
providing transportation services meeting the
special needs of handicapped and elderly
persons, and encourage the establishment of new
ones.
(c) The Committee shall also DEVELOP A PLAN TO
coordinate the efforts and activities of ALL
[those] State agencies involved in providing for
these special transportation services,
REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THESE AGENCIES ARE
INVOLVED IN THE USE OF SECTION 16(B)(2) FUNDING
OR FUNDING FROM SOME OTHER STATE OR FEDERAL
SOURCE.
2. Particular Role of Director on Aging
The Director on Aging is hereby designated as the
person responsible for the overall management of the
plan and the expenditure of [federal] SECTION 16(B)(2)
funds in accordance with it. Subject to the
provisions of Paragraph 3, [he] THE DIRECTOR ON AGING
shall accept and provide for the expenditure of funds,
grants, and services pursuant to Section 16(b)(2) of
the [Federal Aid Highway Act of 1973] URBAN MASS
TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1964, AS AMENDED.
3. Particular Role of Secretary of Transportation
The Secretary of Transportation shall act as the
applicant on behalf of the Director on Aging and the
other State agencies in securing funds, grants, and
services from the Federal Department of Transportation
pursuant to Section 16(b)(2) of the [Federal Aid
Highway Act of 1973] URBAN MASS TRANSPORTATION ACT OF
1964, AS AMENDED.
Cooperation of State Agencies
All State agencies within the Executive Branch are
directed to cooperate with the Interagency Committee,
the Director on Aging, and the Secretary of
Transportation in carrying out the provisions of this
Executive Order.
