The Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404
Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 992.
This bill adds Baltimore County to those counties where
gaming activities are allowed to be conducted by various
nonprofit organizations for their direct benefit.
Senate Bill 40, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 29, 1984, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 992.
Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

of law concerning gaming activities; providing that a
certain provision of law concerning gaming activities
applies to certain organizations in Baltimore County;
