Meharry Medical College to $11,000 per student per year; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Governor is urged to increase the funds available to the State
Board for Higher Education for the Southern Regional Education
Board's contract with Meharry Medical College to $11,000 per
student per year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the State Board for Higher Education is
requested to increase the contract amount for students from
Maryland attending Meharry Medical College under Southern
Regional Education Board contract to $11,000 per student per
year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the
Honorable Harry Hughes, Governor of Maryland; Thomas H. Maddux,
Chairman of the State Board for Higher Education, 16 Francis
Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401; and Sheldon H. Knorr,
Commissioner for Higher Education, 16 Francis Street, Annapolis,
Maryland 21401.

A House Joint Resolution concerning

Task Force for Voter Registration

FOR the purpose of requesting the Governor to establish a task
force on voter registration to study and make
recommendations for increasing voter registration and
participation in the State; providing for the membership,
appointment, and staffing appointment and membership of the
task force; providing that the task force submit reports to
the Governor and the General Assembly annually, beginning on
by a certain date; and generally relating to establishing a
task force on voter registration.

WHEREAS, The United States of America is governed a
government of the people, for by the people, and by for the
people; and

WHEREAS, The United States government is founded upon the
principle of participatory democracy; and

WHEREAS, There are more than 43 million eligible but
unregistered "potential" voters in the United States and only
27.4 percent of those eligible to vote elected the current
