RESOLVED, That the Task Force should identify the areas in
the State where the largest number of individuals needing food
assistance for survival are located; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Task Force should make recommendations
for implementation of more effective and comprehensive responses
to assisting individuals in need of food assistance for survival
in the State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Task Force be composed of members
appointed as follows:
(1) 2 members from the Senate of Maryland, appointed
by the President of the Senate;
(2) 2 members of the House of Delegates, appointed by
the Speaker of the House of Delegates;
(3) A representative, appointed by the Governor, from
each of the following agencies:
(i) The State Department of Human Resources;
(ii) The State Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene; and
(iii) A private nonprofit social services
agency; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Governor appoint the Chairperson and Vice
Chairperson of the Task Force; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Task Force present a preliminary report
to the Governor and the General Assembly by January 1, 1985 and
its final report by July 31, 1985; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Task Force be staffed by the Maryland
Department of Human Resources; and be it further
WHEREAS, The Governor and the members of the General
Assembly have acknowledged their deep concern over the needs of
the citizens of this State for a well balanced diet and
assistance to provide for this diet by establishing a Governor's
Task Force to examine all related issues and problems; and
WHEREAS, The General Assembly is concerned that the topic of
study is too extensive to be effectively completed by September
1, 1984; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Governor extend the existence of the Task Force on Food and
Nutrition, created by Joint Resolution 23 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1983, to September 1, 1985; and be it further
