Ch. 731

(F)  "BOARD", EXCEPT "LOCAL BOARD", MEANS THE MARYLAND
STATEWIDE MASTER ELECTRICAL LICENSING BOARD.

(G)  "LOCAL BOARD" MEANS AN ELECTRICAL BOARD LAWFULLY
CONSTITUTED IN ANY LOCAL JURISDICTION WITHIN THIS STATE.

532.

(A)  BY JULY 1, 1984, AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS
OF SUBSECTIONS (B)(1) AND (2) OF THIS SECTION, THE GOVERNOR, WITH
THE ADVICE AND CONSENT OF THE SENATE SHALL APPOINT 9 PERSONS, WHO
SHALL CONSTITUTE THE MARYLAND STATEWIDE ELECTRICAL LICENSING
BOARD.

(B) (1) THE 9 MEMBER BOARD SHALL BE COMPOSED OF 6 MASTER
ELECTRICIANS AND 3 PUBLIC MEMBERS. EACH MEMBER SHALL BE A
CITIZEN AND RESIDENT OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND. TWO MEMBERS OF
THE BOARD MAY NOT BE RESIDENTS OF THE SAME CITY, COUNTY, OR OTHER
POLITICAL SUBDIVISION.

(2)  THE 6 MASTER ELECTRICIAN MEMBERS OF THE BOARD
SHALL BE APPOINTED AS FOLLOWS: 1 FROM BALTIMORE CITY, 1 FROM THE
EASTERN SHORE (WHICH INCLUDES A GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF CAROLINE,
DORCHESTER, KENT, QUEEN ANNE'S, SOMERSET, TALBOT, WICOMICO, AND
WORCESTER COUNTIES), 1 FROM THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF BALTIMORE,
CECIL, AND HARFORD COUNTIES, 1 FROM THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF ANNE
ARUNDEL, CALVERT, CHARLES, AND ST. MARY'S COUNTIES, 1 FROM THE
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF MONTGOMERY AND PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTIES, AND
1 FROM THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF ALLEGANY, CARROLL, FREDERICK,
GARRETT, HOWARD, AND WASHINGTON COUNTIES.

(3)  AFTER THE APPOINTMENT OF THE INITIAL BOARD, TO BE
ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT, EACH INDUSTRY MEMBER OF THE BOARD SHALL
BE ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN THE ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS AS A
QUALIFIED MASTER ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR ELECTRICIAN WHO HOLDS A
CURRENT ACTIVE LICENSE UNDER THIS SUBTITLE, AND SHALL HAVE BEEN
ENGAGED FOR NOT LESS THAN 5 CONSECUTIVE YEARS IMMEDIATELY PRIOR
TO THE DATE OF HIS APPOINTMENT AS A MASTER ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR
ELECTRICIAN.

(4)  THE 3 PUBLIC MEMBERS SHALL BE APPOINTED AS
FOLLOWS: 1 FROM THE EASTERN SHORE, 1 FROM CENTRAL MARYLAND, AND 1
FROM WESTERN MARYLAND AT LARGE SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF
SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION.

(C)  THE TERMS OF MEMBERS OF THE BOARD INITIALLY SHALL BE: 3
MEMBERS FOR 1 YEAR, 3 MEMBERS FOR 2 YEARS, AND 3 MEMBERS FOR 3
YEARS. ALL TERMS OF OFFICE SHALL EXPIRE ON JUNE 30 OF THE LAST
YEAR OF THE TERM. AS THE TERMS OF MEMBERS EXPIRE, THE GOVERNOR
SHALL APPOINT A MEMBER TO FILL THE VACANCY FOR A TERM OF 3 YEARS.
A MEMBER MAY NOT SUCCEED HIMSELF AFTER SERVING A FULL TERM OF 3
YEARS, AND THE NEWLY APPOINTED MEMBERS SHALL BE FROM A
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OTHER THAN THAT REPRESENTED BY ANY REMAINING
MEMBER OF THE BOARD. VACANCIES IN THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD
