CHAPTER 633

(House Bill 568)

AN ACT concerning

State Pensions

FOR the purpose of providing that certain pension, annuity,
retirement allowance, optional benefit, or death benefit
payments are subject to assignment if the assignment is
expressly provided for in, or done incident to, certain
court orders or decrees; providing for immunity under this
Act; and generally relating to the assignment of certain
benefits.

Article 73B - Pensions
Section 17, 96, 125, and 152
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1983 Replacement Volume)

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 88B - State Police

Section 60

(1979 Replacement Volume and 1983 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 73B - Pensions

17.

(A)   IN THIS SECTION "COURT" MEANS ANY COURT OF ANY STATE OR
THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.

(B)  THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION SHALL ONLY APPLY TO
PAYMENTS MADE AFTER THE DATE OF RECEIPT OF WRITTEN NOTICE OF THE
DECREE OR ORDER BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AND OF ANY ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION THAT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MAY
PRESCRIBE.

(C)  The right of a person to a pension, an annuity or a
retirement allowance, to the return of contributions the pension,
annuity or retirement allowance itself, any optional benefit or
