Article - Health Occupations

Section 15-305

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1981 Volume and 1983 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health Occupations

15-305.

(a) (1) Subject to the provisions of this subsection, the
Board shall waive the examination requirements of this subtitle
for an applicant who is certified or licensed to practice
podiatry in any other state.

(2) The Board may grant a waiver under this
subsection only if the applicant:

(i) Is of good moral character;

(ii) Pays the application fee set by the Board;

and

applicant:

(iii) Provides adequate evidence that the

Is licensed in the other state; [and]

2.  Became licensed in the other state
under requirements substantially equivalent to the requirements
of this title; AND

3.  PRACTICED PODIATRY IN THE OTHER STATE
FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS IMMEDIATELY BEFORE APPLYING FOR A LICENSE IN
THIS STATE.

(3) The Board may grant a waiver under this
subsection only if:

(I)  [the] THE state in which the applicant is
licensed waives the examination of licensees of this State to a
similar extent as this State waives the examination of
individuals licensed in that state; AND

(II)  THE APPLICANT HAS NOT PREVIOUSLY FAILED
THE EXAMINATION REQUIRED BY THIS STATE.

(b) The Board may waive the written examination requirement
of this subtitle for an applicant who has passed the examination
given by the National Board of Podiatry Examiners.
