be construed only prospectively and may not be applied or
interpreted to have any effect upon or application to any service
contract entered into prior to the effective date of this Act.

SECTION 2 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

AN ACT concerning

Natural Resources Police - Overtime Compensation

FOR the purpose of establishing a minimum time for which law
enforcement employees of the Natural Resources Police are to
receive overtime compensation when the employees are
required to change duty status from off-duty to on-duty
under certain conditions; providing for the computation of
this minimum time of overtime compensation; providing an
effective date; and generally relating to overtime
compensation for certain law enforcement employees of the
Natural Resources Police.

MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

(d) (1) (I) Law-enforcement employees of the Maryland State
Police who work in excess of their normal eight hour daily work
day or who work in excess of 40 hours in a 4 day work week of 10
hour work days, and law-enforcement employees of any other State
agency who work in excess of their normal eight hour daily work
