(2) THE BOARD SHALL ESTABLISH NEED TO KNOW CRITERIA
TO DETERMINE THE COMPETENCIES OF APPLICANTS FOR REGISTRATION.
THESE CRITERIA SHALL FORM THE BASIS FOR THE EVALUATION OF
APPLICATIONS AND EXAMINATION. THE CRITERIA SHALL BE PROPERLY
VALIDATED AND PUBLISHED FOR THE USE OF APPLICANTS FOR
REGISTRATION.

[(2)] (3) The Board [may] SHALL use professional
examinations prepared by recognized examination agencies.

[(3)] (4) Examination papers shall identify the
applicant only by a number assigned by the Board secretary.

(e)  Examination papers shall be filed with the Board
secretary and kept at least 1 year.

(f)  (1) An applicant who fails an examination may retake
the examination.

(2) An applicant for reexamination shall:

(i) Submit to the Board an application on the
form the Board requires; and

(ii) Pay to the Board a reexamination fee set
by the Board.

(g)  Unless authorized by the Board, the consumer member of
the Board may not participate in any activity related to
examinations under this subtitle.

(a)  Except as otherwise provided in this section, to
qualify for certification as a registered [sanitarian]
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER SANITARIAN, an applicant shall
attain a passing score on:

(1)  A written examination in the basic sciences that
relate to environmental health; and

(2)  An examination on the principles and practices of
environmental [sanitation] HEALTH.

(b)  [An applicant for certification as a registered
sanitarian is exempt from the examination required by subsection
(a)(1) of this section if the applicant:

(1)  Has at least 12 years experience in environmental
sanitation that meets the standards set by the Board; or

(2)  Is a sanitarian in training.
