LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 560

Subtitle 3. Licensing

[17-301.] 5.5-301.

An individual shall be certified as a registered
[sanitarian] ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER SANITARIAN by the
Board before the individual may:

(1)  Use the title "registered [sanitarian]
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER SANITARIAN";

(2)  Use the initials ["R.S."] "R.E.H.P." after
the name of the person; or

(3)  Represent to the public that the individual is a

registered [sanitarian] ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER

SANITARIAN.

[17-302.] 5.5-302.

(a)  To qualify for certification as a registered
[sanitarian] ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER SANITARIAN, an
applicant shall be an individual who meets the requirements of
this section.

(b)  An applicant qualifies to take the examination if[:

(1) The] THE applicant:

[(i)] (1) Graduates from an accredited college
or university with:

[1.] (I) A baccalaureate degree in
environmental science or [in the natural sciences; or]
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND 12 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE, ACCEPTABLE TO
THE BOARD, IN THE FIELD OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH; OR

(II) A BACCALAUREATE DEGREE IN THE NATURAL
SCIENCES INCLUDING:

1.  A MINIMUM OF 60 SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS
OR THE EQUIVALENT QUARTER CREDIT HOURS OF BASIC SCIENCES
ACCEPTABLE TO THE BOARD;

2.  A COURSE IN MATHEMATICS AND AT LEAST 1
LABORATORY COURSE IN 3 OF THE FOLLOWING FIELDS: CHEMISTRY,
PHYSICS, MICROBIOLOGY, AND BIOLOGY; AND

3.  12 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE, ACCEPTABLE TO
THE BOARD, IN THE FIELD OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH; OR

[2.] (III) A baccalaureate degree that
includes:
