AN ACT concerning

Legal Services Corporation - Abandoned Property Funding

FOR the purpose of requiring the Governor, with the approval of
the Board of Public Works, to annually transfer from the
abandoned property special fund a certain amount for payment
to the Maryland Legal Services Corporation to support the
activities of the Corporation. requiring the Governor to
annually appropriate a certain amount in the State budget to
support certain costs of the Maryland Legal Services
Corporation; authorizing an annual transfer of certain
abandoned property funds; repealing obsolete language; and
generally relating to the funding of the Maryland Legal
Services Corporation.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

(a) (1) The Governor may include an amount SHALL

APPROPRIATE AT LEAST $500,000 in the State budget each year to

support the activities of the Corporation. The first

appropriation may be made available to the Corporation after the
members of the Board have been appointed and qualified.
